Ocean View College B-12 is committed to supporting teaching and learning for all Year 7 – 12 students by providing access to computers and technology.
24/7 access to laptops enables students to engage with the school’s eLearning environment and other systems that are an integral part of working life.
We are offering a subsidised Laptop Program to those students commencing in both Year 7 & Year 8 at Ocean View College. Students participating in the Laptop Program will have exclusive possession of an individual wireless laptop which will connect to the school’s networked resources. Students may use these laptops at school and at home. This will provide access to the College’s Internet, E-Mail, Office Apps, School based systems and resources, Daymap, up-to-date software, secure data and file storage and printing services supported by the College’s ICT Department.
Please consider the following options:
Students receive a school managed laptop (configured by the school with the latest software and supported by our ICT Department) for their personal use, 7 days a week. They will be able to use this device at school and at home. It will be covered by the manufacturer’s next day on-site repair for three years (14/11/2022-14/11/2025) for any hardware/software issues included in the warranty terms and conditions;
- A one-off payment of $600.00 inc gst. (The full cost of the device is $1045 inc GST with $445 subsidised by the school.)
- A two-part payment of $300.00 inc gst. Debit Card details are a requirement for the second payment.
- 2-year payment plan by a formal direct debit agreement, with a minimum payment of $15.00 per Fortnight commencing in February 2023
- 1-year payment plan by a formal direct debit agreement, with a minimum payment of $30.00 per fortnight commencing in February 2023.
If any of these options do not suit, please contact the college and speak to the Finance manager and an individual Payment plan can be arranged.
Formal ownership of the device remains with the school which allows for the deployment of DfE (Department for Education) licenced software on the device; ownership passes to the student upon leaving the College; as long as $600.00 Inc. GST has been paid.
Students who leave Ocean View College:
- Before completing payment of their device, must return the device in good condition to the school.
- Have completed payment of their device, must return the device to the ICT Department to be wiped of all school systems. This process can take up to 48hrs and you will be notified when it is ready for collection.
Students selecting these options will have exclusive use of the device plus bundled software until the end of their secondary schooling at Ocean View College.
A three year, onsite professional hardware warranty is included (normally priced at over $200).
Accidental Damage Insurance will need to be arranged independently.
Accidental Damage Insurance Policy is the responsibility of the parents, for cover of repair or replacement for all accidental damage or theft (involving forcible entry or break-in), including spillage of liquids. Parents will be financially liable for cost of repair/replacement if lost/stolen or damaged beyond repair if no insurance is in place.
Students who choose not to participate in the Student Laptop Program or Bring Your Own Device will be able to access a daily loan device from the school when needed. These devices are limited and will not be available for take home borrowing, students will be responsible for these devices at all times.
An Acceptable Use Agreement signed by parents and students will outline care and management responsibilities.
While participation in the Student Laptop Program is voluntary, it will increasingly become a crucial tool to support your child’s learning. Your child will continue to have access to daily loan devices at Ocean View College during school hours if you do not participate in the Student Laptop Program
Students may bring their own device from home; however, we are only able to provide limited IT support. Accidental Damage coverage and onsite repair services will not be available for devices not supplied by the school.
