Design Technologies (Metalwork) Y9

Students will be following the Australian Curriculum Content Descriptors to learn more advanced metalworking techniques and revisit, build and extend their knowledge gained in year 8.

Product design students will extend their understanding of reading and creating basic engineering drawings by hand and by computer aided methods to make a product using a range of new skills not learnt in year 8.

Students will learn the Safe Operating Procedures and use of metalworking machines including:

  • MIG welders

  • Metal lathe

  • Horizontal metal bandsaw

The students will produce a number of projects depending on time restraints including a sash clamp, BBQ tools, a folding camp shovel and a metal rake.
