Exceptional communication skills are paramount to success in the workplace - lucky English is the study of communication. At Year 9 students continue to be given the opportunity to consolidate and to develop those skills to which they were exposed in Year 8.
They will continue to analyse and critique a variety of classic and contemporary texts including novels, drama, poetry, magazines, newspaper articles and film. They will be taught and will practise essay writing, creative writing and report writing as well as oral and visual communication techniques. Of course this will be complemented with continued focus and development of students’ basic skills in spelling, vocabulary, grammar and comprehension.
Overall English aims to create a more articulate, astute and analytical student.
