Stage 1 Food & Hospitality (Full or Semester)

Students will focus on the food preparation and service, hospitality and catering, working individually and collaboratively. They further develop skills and safe practices in food preparation, storage and food
Content Semester 1:

  • Food preparation and presentation
  • Food safety and safe work practices
  • Local and Global Issues and trends in Food and Hospitality
  • Social and cultural influences of foods
  • Relationships of food choices to the health and well -being of individuals, families and communities

Assessment:
Assessment is school based where students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types: Practical Activity 60% Group Task 20% Investigation Task 20% (report based on student surveys, interviews to collect information) Associated costs: A semester fee of $65.00 (GST free) to partially cover food costs.
Semester 2:

  • Food preparation and Service
  • Food safety and safe work practices
  • Local and Global Issues relating to trends in Food and Hospitality
  • Social and cultural influences of foods
  • Influences of Celebrity chefs

Assessment:
Assessment is school based where students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types: Practical Activity 60% Group Task 20% Investigation Task 20% (report based on student surveys, interviews and collected information)

Associated costs:  A semester fee of $65.00 (GST free) will cover the material costs.
