Students learn about architectural design methods through the use of technical drafting skills and CAD (Computer Aided Design). The design project for the year is the design and documentation of a unique POD (a small architectural building that can be transported via truck) for a real world client. Next years clients include but are not limited to; a small sauna; a small transportable coffee shop; and a bespoke backyard office. Students will learn idea generation methods and develop critical designerly thinking skills as they design their unique POD scheme through to design development. At least one design will be select each year to be constructed the following year by Ocean Views Doorways 2 Construction program.

Assessment Semester 1:

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Creative Design Brief 20%
  • Sketch Design 30%
  • AO Design Poster 50%

Assessment Semester 2:

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Design Development 25%
  • Documentation Set 50%
  • AO Documentation Poster 25%
