11 Advanced Product Design & Fabrication
Entry Recommendations: Year 10 Product Design & Fabrication (Metalwork)
Students learn a range of metal and concrete fabrication technologies and techniques while designing and constructing a unique piece of contemporary furniture (table). Utilising the design cycle students will research existing concrete/steel tables; investigate the opportunities these materials posses; develop a concept through to a prototype; generate shop drawings; and construct a finished product. Throughout the project, students will keep in mind economy, environmental impact and the potential for future manufacturing.
Students will develop a design folio to support their learning and document their work, following the Australian Curriculum.
Students pay for the materials used in the construction of their major project. They must present a signed Commitment to Pay form before beginning the making process. Full payment must be made two weeks after presenting the form.
