Information Processing and Publishing (Stage 1)

Half Year – One Semester - 10 Credits (either 1 or 2)
Full Year – Two Semesters - 20 Credits
Semester 1
 Content:
Students will acquire and develop practical skills in identifying, choosing, and using appropriate computer hardware and software for communication in a range of contexts.  Students apply the design process in the creation of Digital Presentations using InDesign and Photoshop. Social, legal and ethical issues in technology are also studied.
Assessment: 
Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students will be assessed in the following areas using standardised Stage 1 Performance Standard. Students undertake:

  • Assessment Type 1: Practical Skills                          50%
  • Assessment Type 2: Product and Documentation     30%
  • Assessment Type 3: Issues Analysis                         20%

Semester2
Content:
Students will acquire and develop practical skills in identifying, choosing, and using appropriate computer hardware and software for communication in a range of contexts. Students apply the design process in the creation of Digital Publications (web pages) using Dreamweaver.   Elements of Multimedia are also embedded in this course.  Social, legal and ethical issues in technology are also studied.

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students will be assessed in the following areas using standardised Stage 1 Performance Standard. Students undertake:
